The project was the only Russian representative in the MSME Digital Innovation Challenge 2025, underscoring the global recognition of Russian technologies in the AgTech and agricultural innovation sector.
Russian company Greenbar (MIP Greenbar), a developer of closed modular systems for vertical farming, was selected to represent the Russian Federation at the prestigious G20 MSME Digital Innovation Challenge 2025, currently taking place in South Africa.
The G20 is a key forum for international cooperation, bringing together the leaders of the world's largest economies, accounting for approximately 85% of global GDP. The summit is hosting a competition for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the goal of which is to find breakthrough digital solutions to global challenges.
The project passed a rigorous selection process, demonstrating that its technology aligns with key sustainable development trends and is capable of addressing food security challenges globally.

"This is not only a great honor for us, but also a responsibility," the Greenbar team notes. "We are proud to have the opportunity to present Russian innovations on the same platform as global industry leaders. This demonstrates that technologies created in Russia are competitive and in demand for solving global problems."
Presentation of the Future of the Agricultural Sector
At the forum in South Africa, Greenbar will present its flagship development: fully automated modules for vertical farms using the Virtual Agronomist software (developed with a grant from the Innovation Fund).
The key advantages of the technology that interested the G20 experts:
Complete climate independence: Growing fresh herbs, vegetables, and medicinal plants 365 days a year in any region, including megacities and areas with unfavorable conditions.
Digital control: Using software with elements of artificial intelligence ("virtual agronomist") for precise control of the microclimate and plant nutrition, accelerating growth and managing their biochemical composition.
Environmentally Friendly: The technology saves up to 95% of water compared to traditional agriculture and completely eliminates the use of pesticides.
Global Market Prospects

Participation in the G20 provides Greenbar with access to international investment and partnerships. The global vertical farming market is rapidly growing and is projected to reach $34 billion by 2032. Representing at such a forum sends a powerful signal to global players from the retail, HoReCa, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology sectors.
The Greenbar team intends to use the G20 platform to establish contacts with innovative industry leaders and discuss opportunities for scaling its technology globally.

Greenbar is a Russian startup developing city farming solutions. Its core product is ready-to-install turnkey modules for creating vertical farms in urban environments. The technology enables the creation of sustainable sources of fresh and safe produce locally, minimizing logistics costs and carbon footprint. Hashtags for publication:
