Healthy school nutrition and cityfarm in the canteen - the future of new schools

First of all, it is an excellent mechanism for providing healthy nutrition to pupils. Healthy, timely, and most importantly, wholesome nutrition for a child is a question that worries any parent.

The new 21st century school has its own kitchen for cooking and professional chefs with delicious dishes for children, and competent nutritionists who create a "smart" menu from fresh products. Chefs try to introduce more and more new tastes from different national cultures from all over the world, and a real city farm in the canteen is able to provide the kitchen of the new school with an uninterrupted supply of fresh greens, herbs, and rare species of plants with a variety of tastes that are not always possible to find from suppliers.

The following can be extracted from the rules and recommendations of children's public catering:

(In SanPiN 2.3/2.4.3590-20, greens are included in the daily food sets for children of different ages.

Today, greens and fresh salads are recommended in the methodological recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor MR 2.4.0179-20 as a snack for lunch. This document has the status of a recommendation and does not require strict implementation, like SanPiN 2.3/2.4.3590-20.

Although the issue of the method of issuing greens to children is not precisely defined in SanPiN 2.3/2.4.3590-20, the work of the school canteen, as a public catering establishment, strictly follows the principles of HACCP (Chapter 2 of SanPiN 2.3/2.4.3590-20).

It is important to follow the rules for storing and preparing greens to ensure the safety of children's food. However, the use of greens in is not mandatory in children's nutrition, although it is recommended. The benefits of using greens in school meals are obvious - they enrich dishes with vitamins and minerals, making them healthier. City Farm offers an innovative approach to using greens in the school canteen. Growing greens and herbs right on site will allow children to have an interesting time, learn how to grow greens and participate in this process. Greens grown at City Farm are always fresh, safe and do not require additional processing. Using fresh harvests of greens, as well as berries and vegetables from City Farm, school canteens will be able to offer children higher quality and tastier food that meets the principles of organic farming. We believe that changes in the school menu towards using fresh and safe greens will help solve the problem of children's nutrition and make school meals healthier and more varied. With the right approach to using greens, and attention to detail in storage and preparation, city farming can be the key to improving the quality of school meals and caring for children's health.

Learn to distinguish plants by species, tastes, colors and smells, independently develop new dishes. Growing fresh basil leaves with lemon, pepper, cinnamon or clove flavors right in the kitchen between the stove and the refrigerator will not only saturate the child's body with vitamins, but also activate the brain's sensory work.
